'Do what you love' : A seemingly simple concept that gets lost underneath layers of life events and the meaning we assign to them. Often we create our own road blocks by letting the insecurities, fears and doubts creep in. This personal project is a look at those who are pursuing their passion and how they got to where they are now.

Getting out of your own way and taking that leap towards doing something you love is not easy but, then again, nothing that you really care about is.

When I started this project, I tried not to think ahead to what the outcome would look like. I really just wanted to go through the process for myself and hope that others who are in a similar place in life could find something in this project to help them as well.

I am honoured that the those featured here let me tell their stories through photos and I'm grateful for the honesty with which they responded to my questions. I think through vulnerability we build connections and I guess that is a big part of what this project is about. Feeling connected to ourselves, each other and our work.

Last October I visited Ubuntu Gardens while the harvesting season was coming to an end. It was a wonderful learning experience for me. I was so excited to return with everything green, abundant and to get a new perspective on the work behind this local organic farm.

I met Nicole, the owner of Simple Elements Home Staging several weeks ago and she showed me first hand how she can transfer a space. She is definitely not afraid of colour and uses carefully thought out details to bring a space to life. Her passion for what she does shines through when she talks about her work....

I spent the morning with Stephanie (ShivTrain Studios) in her studio as she was working away on some of her handmade paper products. The time with her made me truly appreciate the attention to detail and thought she puts into every single piece she touches. Nothing beats original handmade products that are...

I met Becca (@thehappyevercrafter) last week on a whim: she needed a photographer and I happened to be free that night. While she was busy leading her brush calligraphy workshop, I was able to capture some of the night with lots of laughs, some intensely focused participants, and tempting treats at the wonderful...

The session with Ubuntu Gardens marked a change to my project. I've modified the questions a bit to get a different take on the businesses that will be featured. I started this project out of a curiosity about the work others are passionate about, what brought them there and why they do what they do. That feelin...

I spent some time with Candace Sherwood  while she was setting up for an Open House. It is obvious she loves what she does and that she has a deep respect for her clients. As I watched her work, I couldn't imagine her doing anything else - being a Realtor seems like such a natural fit. If you need help selling...

One of the things I’m really enjoying about this project is meeting new people with different life experiences, who are pursuing careers in completely different areas from each other. Despite these differences, together, these stories highlight similarities in what holds us back and what happens when you start t...

When I had the chance to photograph Christine Breton, creator and designer behind LaFabère, I was so excited to be able to document her creative process while she was working away in her lovely home studio. Christine is a graphic designer and artist who creates the most beautiful, timeless prints to celebrate li...
