Hi, I'm Melanie and this is me with my girls. I'm a prime example of what happens when you spend so much of your time behind the camera: it creates this unintentional void in all of the photo albums. I love being our family's historian by photographing little moments, big moments and everything in between but I'm also often reminded how important it is to put the camera down, be fully there with them and let someone else have a turn at documenting. This is what motivates my work and why I love documentary photography so much. It has the power to transport you back to a moment, a feeling, a time, a place; even when memory fails. 

I'm all about capturing a feeling over posing, about letting people be who they are without forcing anything and honouring the beauty and importance of everyday moments. I'm a photographer in the Ottawa Gatineau area and I capture moments for families (engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, family, events) and create imagery for businesses and commercial clients (headshots/portraits, branding, events, still photography).
