Ottawa Gatineau wedding photographer |Outdoor wedding| Gatineau farm wedding | Sally + Doug

Since launching my photography business, the past several years have been filled with new experiences, new people, new friends, documenting moments, growing as a photographer and as a person. I would've missed out on so much had I stayed securely in my comfort zone. One of those moments when I realized just how important little micro decisions can be was when I photographed Sally and Doug on their wedding day.

I met Sally at the Aylmer QC market about 3 years ago. On a whim I decided to buy a table at the market to advertise for my business. Sally and Doug were also there and towards the end of the day Sally came to my table and took my card saying that they had a farm and may need photos. Fast forward a few weeks and there I was, documenting their routine on the organic farm they ran together (see my previous post on Ubuntu Gardens). The images I took for them are among my favourite. After that initial visit, I was invited back again the following summer (see post here) and to take photos of Sally's art installation. When she reached out and asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was over the moon because 1) I was so happy for them and 2) having worked with them a few times already, I knew their day would be beautiful in it's simplicity, filled with personal and meaningful touches. Their wedding was so touching and intimate. When you have the pleasure of photographing people at various points in their lives, you feel like you know them on some level and being there for this day was an honour. The rain stopped and the sun came out right as the ceremony was scheduled to start - it was meant to be. Had I not been at that market that day our paths may never have crossed and I would have missed out on wonderful moments with them.
